Every damn literary figure/historical hero is getting their own bizarre reinvention. Now it’s Mark Twain’s beloved characters Tom and Huck looking down the barrel of a high-concept reboot.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount Pictures just picked up a spec script by Andy Burg titled HUCK. The story is described as a re-imagining in the vein of Snow White and the Huntsman, focusing on Sawyer and Finn as adults. There also are supernatural elements to the script.

Because that’s what the masses are clamoring for? Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn as adults fighting supernatural threats?

Flick’s producers are Peter Chernin and Dylan Clark, who recently re-imagined a property quite successfully with RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES. SORCERER’S APPRENTICE screenwriter Matt Lopez is also on board to produce.

Meanwhile, scribe Burg wrote the spec script HELLIFIED a few years ago, which was also picked up by Paramount. That film seems to be in development hell (fittingly?).
