Actor Mike Myer's debut film is a documentary called SUPERMENSCH: THE LEGEND OF SHEP GORDON, which focuses on Hollywood super-manager Shep Gordon, who has lent his managing skills to a bevy of music stars throughout his career and befriended some of Hollywood's most elite, who seem to regard him as one of the nicest and most trustworthy people on the planet. The film premiered at TIFF 2013 and garnered solid reviews. The trailer is certainly compelling, especially if you're someone who enjoys tales of the inner workings of show business.

In 1991, music manager Shep Gordon held Mike Myers over a barrel a few weeks before shooting "Wayne's World" regarding an Alice Cooper song Myers wanted to use in the film. They have been close friends ever since. 22 years later, the story of Gordon's legendary life in the uber-fast lane is now told in Myers' directorial debut. And this time it's Myers who has Gordon over a barrel. Capitalist, protector, hedonist, pioneer, showman, shaman… SUPERMENSCH. Shep Gordon is the consummate Hollywood insider. I'm always fascinated by the things you never see and only hear about in Hollywood and showbusiness in general. It's often portrayed as a beautiful collection of creative collaboration, but we all know there's more to it than that. For someone as ingrained in the system and dealing with such a massive amount of celebrities, I have no doubt that just sitting down with Shep Gordon for half an hour would yield enough interesting tales to fit in a book, let alone an entire documentary. Definitely one to add to the playlist.
