I’ve got some casting news for you today regarding Jaume Collet-Serra’s ORPHAN, via Variety.
Two names now attached to the film are Peter Sarsgaard and Vera Farmiga (pictured). Sarsgaard’s former films include THE SKELETON KEY, FLIGHTPLAN, and GARDEN STATE while Farmiga has starred in THE DEPARTED and RUNNING SCARED. Now considering GARDEN STATE, THE DEPARTED, and RUNNING SCARED are three of my all time favorite films, these two are definately a couple of my favorite stars and I’ll definately keep an eye out for ORPHAN.
OPRHAN revolves around a husband and wife (Sarsgaard and Farmiga) who lose a baby and then adopt a 9-year-old girl who is not nearly as innocent as she claims to be.
So looks like they’ll be looking for a little girl next. 20 bucks says Dakota Fanning is in the running. Seems like whenever flicks need a young actress, she’s the go-to-gal. As I mentioned, ORPHAN is being directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (HOUSE OF WAX). The script is by David Leslie Johnson, which is based off the story by Alex Mace.
Production for ORPHAN is set to start next week in Toronto and Montreal. We’ll keep you updated on any other news.
