If your like us here at AITH then you love yourself some old school action movies. It’s no secret that we’re big fans of guys like Jean Claude Van Damme and Sylvester Stallone. Well there’s some interesting news coming in from Cinemablend today. And by interesting I mean absolutely awesome… if it pans out.
You all remember UNIVERSAL SOLDIER right? Of course you do. It’s that badass action flick from the early 90s thats pits Van Damme against Dolph Lundgren, both being brainwashed super soldiers. (And it stars the gorgeous Ally Walker (below)) Well apparently there’s been some talk over at Sony about another UNIVERSAL SOLDIER!
Now we all remember UNIVERSAL SOLDIER: THE RETURN, which starred Van Damme and wrestling star Bill Goldberg. And it seems there was a UNIVERSAL SOLDIER 2 and 3, both made for TV.. I’m assuming those went unnoticed for a reason. So it’s unknown right now if they’re going to go back to UNIVERSAL SOLDIER 2 or jump right to 5.
Cinemablend say their source is saying UNIVERSAL SOLDIER 2-5 will be going straight to DVD and that Mr. Van Damme himself is in talks to star! That’s awesome! Considering Van Damme is currently working his way back to being a household name (or trying to at least) with stuff like J.C.V.D. and FULL LOVE, if they can sign him to UNIVERSAL SOLDIER 2-5 there might could possibly be a chance it will go theatrical… and get this… Cinemablend are also reporting on some minor rumors that Lundgren might be approached as well!
Sure… now we’re all excited, but let me remind you all none of this is even remotely official… but it’s damn fun to think about! Here’s hoping.
