Zack Snyder is a genius. The man knows what he’s doing. First DAWN OF THE DEAD then 300. Not to mention the fact that WATCHMEN is looking to be something f*cking awesome!
We’ve got an update today on another of Snyder’s projects… the project called ARMY OF THE DEAD! We last told you about ARMY OF THE DEAD a long ass time ago, getting everyone all excited then hearing nothing for almost half a year. Well things ARE moving forward! Today Variety announced who will be helming the project!
That name is Matthijs van Heijningen. Van Heijningen is a visual artist, so seeing him tackle a zombie flick is exciting. This will also be his first go around as a film director.
Joby Harold, who penned and directed AWAKE, penned the script based off Zack Snyder’s idea of an action thriller that takes place in zombie-infested Las Vegas and focuses on a father who tries to save his daughter from certain death in a zombie-ridden Sin City.
That plot reminds me a bit of Brian Keene’s THE RISING novel, minus the Las Vegas part. Snyder’s last attempt at the zombie film offered great success with the DAWN remake, so seeing these guys bring us, what Synder calls the ultimate zombie movie has me tickled pink!
