Do you feel the need–the need for a three hour loop of the beach football scene from Top Gun: Maverick? Us, too! Thankfully, Paramount has uploaded just that as their own version of a yule log.

The video, aptly titled Three Hours of the Beach Football Scene, was uploaded on Paramount’s official YouTube page on Christmas Eve in order to capitalize on the popular televised yule log trend (which goes back to 1966). But instead of the traditional fireplace scenery–which is absent from Maverick–viewers get the fellas (including Miles Teller and Glen Powell) from Top Gun shirtless on the beach tossing the ol’ pigskin around. So, yes, while you could have gathered your nearest and dearest around a 74-inch Black Friday deal on Christmas, this video can be watched year-round! So take that, Syfy Chucky yule log!

As per Paramount’s description: “Some folks might prefer staring at a crackling fire for their yuletide celebrations, but if you’re the type who feels the need for speed, a loop of Top Gun: Maverick‘s sweaty beach football scene might be the holiday joy you’re looking for.”

The clip itself runs 50 seconds. So at three hours–or 10,800 seconds–the  crack team of mathematicians at have pegged that at a loop of 216 times! The Maverick football loop video seems to be a hit, with 20,000 views since Christmas Eve. The comments section is also scorching, with YouTubers saying it’s “the kind of high quality content I subscribe to Paramount + for” and that it’s “a great way to end 2022.” Now all we need is a five-hour loop of the volleyball scene from the original Top Gun!

Top Gun: Maverick has been one of the most talked-about movies of the year and it has nothing to do with beach football. With a global box office haul of just under $1.5 billion, it’s just outside of the top 10 highest-grossing movies worldwide. It also nabbed a Golden Globe nomination for Best Motion Picture – Drama.

Come on, admit it, you watched Paramount’s three-hour Maverick football scene loop, even if just for a little bit! How many loops did you make it through?
