I’m not sure if many have heard of THE WATCHMEN. News about it has been floating around the net for a couple years now, and it’s finally getting worked on.
THE WATCHMEN was originally a comic book/graphic novel written by Alan Moore and illustrated by Dave Gibbons. And like most graphic novels with potential, it’s been optioned for a movie. The plot reads: When an ex-superhero is murdered, a vigilante named Rorshach begins an investigation into the murder, which begins to lead to a much more terrifying conclusion.
Still not sold? Well it’s being directed by Zack Snyder (300 and DAWN OF THE DEAD), who doesn’t really know how to make a bad movie. It’s being adapted by David Hayter and Alex Tse and stars Carla Gugino, Malin Akerman (below), Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Patrick Wilson, Billy Crudup, Jackie Earle Haley, and Matthew Goode. Sounds good to me, especially with Malin Akerman attached. She’s gorgeous. You might remember her as Freakshow’s smokin hot wife in HAROLD AND KUMAR GO TO WHITE CASTLE.
Well there’s been some official stills sweeping around the net for a couple weeks now, so that’s what I’m giving you a look at on this slow news day. The stills don’t show much, just a pretty awesome looking set. Scope those out below.
THE WATCHMEN hits theaters March 6, 2009. Yeah, that’s a long ass time away. I’m sure we’ll be hearing a lot more on THE WATCHMEN, until then, check out the official website.
