We get the world we deserve in these two new True Detective posters

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

If the first teaser for the second season of HBO's True Detective didn't get you pumped, then this is probably not the show for you. Dialogue free and full of mysterious imagery, the teaser introduced us to the various characters populating the next season of the show including Rachel McAdams, Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughn, and Taylor Kitsch. Now, two new motion posters have been revealed and add to the ominous tone of the serial thriller.

Both posters, one via Twitter and the other from Entertainment Weekly, sport the tagline "we get the world we deserve". What that means seems fairly obvious but how it relates to the events in the show will have to be seen to be understood.

True Detective's freshman season became buzzed about thanks to the direction of Cary Fukunaga as much as the great performances from Woody Harrelson and the resurgence of Matthew McConaughey. The second season will have a lot to live up to but series writer Nic Pizzolatto has already made it clear that this story will be very different from the first.

True Detective premieres on HBO on June 21st.
