We talk F-Bombs & Bikes w/ CHIPS stars Shepard, Pena and Kristen Bell!

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

In December of 2015, I joined a group of journalists to cover the set visit for CHIPS. It was just outside of Los Angeles in Palmdale, and it was freezing – and not just in a 'I’m from LA and its cold cold,' it was legit cold. Yet it was an incredibly fun time. The cast and crew were all very welcoming, so I’m happy to see the flick heading into theatres this weekend. Written and directed by Dax Shepard, the movie brings back the Seventies television series with a few extra F-bombs and a little bit of nudity. And hey, it features the lovely Kristen Bell and the incredibly talented Michael Peña.

With the upcoming release, I headed over to Downtown Los Angeles near the Shrine Auditorium to chat about all things CHIPS. During the junket, I took a ride on a Ducati motorcycle courtesy of CHIPS stunt driver, Tom McComas. And then, it was time to chat with Kristen Bell. What I love about Ms. Bell is just how friendly and down-to-earth she is. She opened up about playing a not so nice character, and whether or not Karen – her character in CHIPS – would pal around with Sarah Marshall.

Next we sat down with both Dax Shepard and Michael Peña. Dax talked about bringing CHIPS to a modern age, and adding a few more f*cks and butts to the big screen. They also discussed just how much they were inspired by the original show. The two actors have nice chemistry together, and clearly they are thrilled about playing Ponch and Jon. In fact, they both would love to continue and turn this ride into a franchise.

CHIPS is revving it up into theaters this weekend at a theater near you.
