Wanna watch something….to ring in the New Year with the greatest TV series of all time?
THE TWILIGHT ZONE (Airs December 30th – January 1st on SYFY) – Few series are as legendarily good as Rod Serling's The Twilight Zone. Still as brilliant as ever five decades later, SYFY brings new generations the chance to enjoy hours upon hours of the series each New Year's Eve. Wanna watch something….with some scary ass (real) ghosts?
DEMON HOUSE (Premieres January 1st on Travel) – There are those out there who really enjoy the ghost hunter shows that populate cable these days. While I am a bit of a skeptic, Zak Bagans, ghost of Ghost Adventures, wrote and directed this "documentary" about the Ammons House in Indiana. Many have called this one of the scariest "documentaries" ever made. You can judge for yourself this New Year's Day.
Wanna watch something….that brings the Unfortunate Events to a close?
A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS (Premieres January 1st on Netflix) – The first two seasons of this series have been beloved by fans and critics, so some will be disappointed that the third season will be it's last. Neil Patrick Harris has never been better, so enjoy his Count Olaf while you can as these seven final episodes adapt the four remaining books in Lemony Snicket's novel series.
Wanna watch something….with a scenery chewing James Spader?
THE BLACKLIST (Premieres January 3rd on NBC) – The fact that this show is still on the air speaks to the fan base who enjoy seeing James Spader deliver his trademark douchiness in spades. Entering it's sixth season, The Blacklist still looks like it can pack a punch with action and byzantine twists along the way. Maybe I should go back and binge the four seasons I have not seen yet.
Wanna watch something….that brings The Dark Knight to the small screen?
GOTHAM (Premieres January 3rd on FOX) – You may have abandoned FOX's revisionist Batman series after the first season, but I have hate-watched it all the way. Once the show gave up being gritty and realistic and embraced it's campy nature, it actually became fun to watch. Seeing their version of the Joker has been pretty interesting and I am hoping the show goes out with a bang and not a whimper. I am not convinced by the photos of their version of Bane, but I will hate-watch this until the very end of this final season.
Wanna watch something….with Dwayne Johnson and American Gladiators?
THE TITAN GAMES (Premieres January 3rd on NBC) – This new sports series created and hosted by Dwayne Johnson looks and sounds a heck of a lot like American Gladiators. It follows contestants who must defeat reigning Titans for the chance to become one themselves and then defend against future competitors. Wait…that IS American Gladiators! I am all in!
Wanna watch something….for fans of DC Animated Series?
YOUNG JUSTICE: OUTSIDERS (Premieres January 4th on DC Universe) – DC Universe becomes the new home for this animated series entering it's third season. I have never been a big fan of the DC animation style, but there are people out there who enjoy it. So, if you are one of them, I guess you can get excited about paying for a new steeaming service to watch a show you used to see on regular cable.
Wanna watch something….crowning the best films and TV shows of 2018?
76TH ANNUAL GOLDEN GLOBE AWARDS (Premieres January 6th on NBC) – Any awards show is going to have winners and losers and with all of the controversy surrounding the Oscars needing a host, this could end up making the Golden Globes a winner. While everyone is entitled to their own picks for what are the best shows and movies of the year, seeing winners get recognized for their work and generating conversation about their projects is always fun to watch.
