What We Do in the Shadows season 2 will feature ghosts, witches, Hamill

Just yesterday, we learned that the second season of What We Do in the Shadows, a TV series spin off from Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi's horror-comedy mockumentary film of the same title, will begin airing on FX on April 15th. In the hours since then, we have learned some information on what viewers can expect to see in the new season.

In case you're not familiar with the What We Do in the Shadows series, it centers on

three vampires who live together: Laszlo (Matt Berry), Nadja (Natasia Demetriou), and Nandor (Kayvan Novak) — the former two are husband and wife. Also living with them is a fourth vampire named Colin Robinson (Mark Proksch), who’s an “energy vampire.” Instead of blood, he sucks the energy out of his victims by boring them to death with mundane anecdotes and bad jokes. The office is his feeding ground, but his powers also work on his vampire roomies.

Speaking at the show's Television Critics Association press day panel, Clement revealed that the second season will feature the vampires crossing paths with other supernatural characters, such as ghosts and witches.

Mark Hamill will also be showing up as a "surprise guest star"… Not much of a surprise anymore. Clement didn't say what sort of role Hamill will be playing on the show.

Clement did have to share the disappointing news that cast member Beanie Feldstein is not returning for season 2, due to film commitments and scheduling issues. It's a bummer that she had to leave the show, as "she was planned to be a big character", but they're moving on without her and are bringing in other characters for season 2.

What We Do in the Shadows is executive produced by Clement, Waititi, Paul Simms, Scott Rudin, Eli Bush, and Garrett Basch.

Episodes will stream on Hulu the day after they premiere on FX.
