Darren Lynn Bousman is a busy man! Fresh off his adventures in the SAW universe the man jumped right into REPO! THE GENETIC OPERA and is still out there pimping that one out. Fortunately he’s finally moving on to a couple other projects… and what a couple projects they are! I’m talking about MOTHER’S DAY and ABATTOIR. Bousman and company are hoping both projects produce franchises so the man might have his hands full for a while….
Well I’m here today to pass along the good word on some progress with one of those films: MOTHER’S DAY. Shooting is scheduled to being this Fall in Manitoba so the combination of Twisted Pictures, the Genre Co., Rat Entertainment and LightTower are hard at work casting this puppy… and they’ve scored the first name today according to The Hollywood Reporter!
Deborah Ann Woll is the first to join the cast of MOTHER’S DAY as our twisted mother’s daughter! Now Woll’s name might not ring any bells but if you glance at the shots above and below you may recognize her… Yes, that’s ‘Jessica’ from HBO’s TRUE BLOOD. Now if you’re a fan of the series then chances are you know who Jessica is and you know Woll should do an awesome job playing the daughter/sister in this derranged family. You may be asking yourself ‘what the hell do I mean daughter/sister?!’ Well give me a second and I’ll tell you what I mean…
If you’re asking that question then you know the original MOTHER’S DAY centered on three female friends who, while camping, run afoul of two brothers who engage in murder and rape to impress their deranged mother. Fun at the park, yay. Well Bousman’s take will stray a little off course and include a daughter into the family. And instead of the whole camping scenerio we’ll be following this lovely family as they return to the house where they grew up and terrorize the new owners and their guests.
It’s already got a release date of Mother’s Day 2010 pegged and like I said, shooting starts this Fall so there’s sure to be a lot more casting announcements heading our way soon. Keep it here and we’ll be sure to pass those along as we hear them!
