Why do I love movies? Well, that is a loaded question. How much time do you have? I could go into a long-winded diatribe about the art of film-making or the magic of the movies, but all of that has been said countless times before. Not every movie is a masterpiece, but every film has touched me in one way or another. Every other week, we will look at a handful of reasons why movies are so damn great..

CHAPTER VIII

I love movies…because of Alan Rickman in DIE HARD

Because of every F-word in SCARFACE

Because of the tears in the rain line from BLADE RUNNER

Because of how MY NEIGHBOR TOTORO makes me smile every time I see it

Because of Paul Reubens death scene in BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER

Because of Paul Reubens in BLOW

Because of every scene Sharon Stone appears in in CASINO

Because of Spud shitting the bed in TRAINSPOTTING

Because of the dream sequences in PRINCE OF DARKNESS

Because of the creature designs in THE THING

Because of Mickey Rourke’s performance in SIN CITY

Because of the color coded children in SMALL CHANGE

Because Satan is the father of ROSEMARY’S BABY

Because of Roman Polanski in this scene from THE TENANT

Because DAWN OF THE DEAD proved remakes can be as good as the original and still be different

Because a shark battles a zombie in ZOMBI

Because Peter Sellers’ performance in BEING THERE is one of the greatest of all time

Because of the way Tony Scott directed MAN ON FIRE

Because nobody puts baby in the corner

Because of the Stained Glass Knight in YOUNG SHERLOCK HOLMES
