If you’re a fan of video games, chances are you’re a huge fan of GEARS OF WAR. Admit it, you are. We all are. Then again there’s those guys out there dedicated to Sony. Unfortunate. But back to us X-Box guys that love splitting Locusts in half with our chainsaws. Now seeing how you’re a fan of the game, you’ve probably known that there’s a GEARS OF WAR movie heading our way from writer/director Len Wiseman. Wait… did I say movie?
I meant movies! That’s right! The guys at Bloody-Disgusting recently chatted it up with Wiseman, who said: “…The hope is that were wanting to do a three movies and really cover the bases on everything. Basically a harder edged Lord Of The Rings.” Wow. That’s some high aspirations… but I’m tickled pink! Imagine a GEARS OF WAR trilogy along the lines of LORD OF THE RINGS? Score!
So it seems writers Wiseman and Chris Morgan have so much in mind for this franchise that they’ve got to span 3 movies! Now this presents a few queries. I’m sure this means we’re in for a couple cliffhanger endings. Now there’s only two video games, so how’re Wiseman and Morgan planning this? Are they adding some stuff in or just going more in depth with what we know from the games? All these questions and no answers. I’m sure sooner or later we’ll get our answers.
But for now we’re left to ponder. An interesting little tidbit about Wiseman’s GEARS history… he knew nothing of the game before choosing it to play in the background of his (awesome) film LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD.
