Universal’s EMILY THE STRANGE adaptation has been in the works since 2008, Chloe Mortez being attached to star was the last piece of new we had heard. It seems the project is moving ahead as Melisa Wallack has been hired to pen the script.

Now Wallack wrote Relativity Media’s up and coming THE BROTHERS GRIMM: SNOW WHITE project, with Tarsem Singh directing. Universal also has a Snow White film in the works SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN starring Kristen Stewart and Chris Hemsworth.

Currently the story line for EMILY THE STRANGE is being kept hush hush. However it is being said that it will have some focus and her relationship with four cats Mystery, Sabbath, Miles and Nee-Chee. One would imagine though that it will contain some kind of introduction to the character, and act as an origin piece.
