The Paramount Network is showing a lot of love for their new drama series YELLOWSTONE, which stars Kevin Costner and his cowboy hat. The network’s successful new show was about to kick off its second season yesterday when Paramount went right ahead and roped it in for a third season, meaning we can expect to see much more of Costner and his cowboy hatting days in the future.

Though not quite getting of GAME OF THRONES numbers, YELLOWSTONE was the most-watched new cable series of 2018 (averaging 5.1 million viewers an episode) and proved a huge success for the newly branded Paramount Network (formerly Spike TV). Co-created by Taylor Sheridan (SICARIO. WIND RIVER) and John Linson, the new season is airing now and the third is expected to hit in 2020 with another 10-episode order.

A hit for the network that found its audiences quickly, the show hasn't been quite the same hit with critics, the first season standing at 51% on Rotten Tomatoes. Our own Chris Bumbray reviewed the first episode last year, and while he concluded that "while starting out a little rocky, seems like it’s going to be a fun, highly watchable show."

The show centers on the Dutton family, led by John Dutton (Costner), who controls the largest ranch in the United States, and the daily drama and danger that comes with owning so much land and trying to live the American dream on the new frontier. Along with Costner, the show stars Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, Cole Hauser, Kelsey Asbille, Brecken Merrill, Jefferson White, Danny Huston and Gil Birmingham.
