Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter gets staked with an official rating!

Get ready for a pleasant surprise…

The arbiters of film content, the MPAA, has struck down with its new slate of film ratings, and one flick we’ve been covering ad nauseam has been ruled upon. According to BOM, Timur Bekmambetov’s ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER has been staked with an R-rating for violence throughout and brief sexuality. Pretty f*ckin’ sweet!

I’ll be honest, as much axe-wielding as we’ve seen from the movie, I was pretty certain the flick would be PG-13…it just has that feel. Now whether or not the R makes the flick worthy of seeing seems a stretch, but at least we know Timur isn’t selling the violence short. Too bad the sexuality is only brief…what I’d kill to see Mary Winstead in the buff!

Addressing us next Friday:

When Abraham Lincoln was nine years old, his mother died from an ailment called the “milk sickness.” Only later did he learn that his mother’s deadly affliction was actually the work of a local vampire, seeking to collect a debt owed by Lincoln’s father. When Abe learned the truth, he vowed revenge and kept one passion hidden throughout his life: the brutal elimination of all vampires. His valiant, bloody fight against the undead was all but lost to history, until Seth Grahame-Smith stumbled upon the secret journal of Abraham Lincoln

Using the journal as his guide, Seth reconstructs Lincoln’s life story and uncovers the role vampires played in the birth, growth, and near-death of our nation. You don’t know Abe. Honest.

Benjamin Walker, Dominic Cooper, Anthony Mackie, Rufus Sewell, Mary Elizabeth Winstead (below), Jimmi Simpson, Robin McLeavy, Alan Tudyk and Martin Csokas all partake in the pic.
