WIND CHILL -September 4th

This beast was in and out of the theater faster than The Flash, and it’s coming out on DVD even quicker than that. I never heard anything bad about this flick, but as Sony is treating it like basura on a hot August day, it must really be bad. If it’s anything like the crappy cover they busted out here, we’re all in for one bumpy ride. On a side note, I hit up the set last February and stars Emily Blunt and Ashton Holmes were cool as f*ck. Take that for what it’s worth.

The Goods:

  • Filmmaker Commentary
  • Making-of Featurette

    THE TRIPPER – October 23rd

It’s like POINT BREAK, but with a slasher/killer on acid. Props to Arquette for not bitching out and giving into the bigger studios who wanted to cut it down from his vision. He released it himself the way he wanted it to be seen, and that alone should be reason enough to pick this one up. Plus, the cast is to die for, and there’s enough gore to satisfy the gorehound in all of us. Plus, an unrated version? Count me in!

    The Goods:

  • Deleted scenes
  • Bloopers
  • Unrated
  • Extended gore scenes
  • Behind-the-scenes footage
  • Director commentary with actors Paul Reubens, Thomas Jane and Richmond Arquette.

    FROSTBITTEN -September 25th

Vampires in Alaska. In the winter. Where it never gets light out. Ok, so 30 DAYS OF NIGHT is basically the same damn thing, but FROSTBITTEN is taking it to another level straight out of Sweden. See, here they’re teenagers who party with vampires… which is a totally unique angle, right? The cover’s cool enough to spark interest, and will likely be worth a rental at the very least.

    The Goods:

  • Anamorphic Widescreen
  • Dolby Digital 5.1 Audio (Swedish with English subtitles)

    DVD Covers:

    Honorable Mentions:

BLACK SHEEP –October 9th – Because people keep telling me this is a good flick, which probably means… this is a good flick! Pick it up!

THE FERRYMAN –September 25th – Because it’s about a killer on an ocean liner. Ah, let’s face it, the title is pretty damn funny and worth a watch just to make fun of the damn thing from start to finish.

ZOMBIE TOWN –November 20th – Because it’s yet another small town taken over by zombies movie, and while it feels like we’ve seen that a gabillion times before, that concept never gets old.

That’s all for this week! Stay tuned every week for your latest DVD news, and as always, feel free to shoot me an email ([email protected]
