First Look: Richard Stanley’s Color Out of Space starring Nic Cage

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

HARDWARE and DUST DEVIL director Richard Stanley's adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft's COLOR OUT OF SPACE starring Nicolas Cage will be premiering as part of the Toronto International Film Festival’s Midnight Madness section next month. And today we have your first look at the sure-to-be stunning motion picture via a new still and poster (see below) and a new behind the scenes pic (see above).

Based on the short story by H.P. Lovecraft and centers on

a meteor which falls to earth and lands on the property of a New England family — its increasingly unhinged patriarch played by the one-and-only Nicolas Cage — with insidious, delirious, and psychedelic results.

Lead Programmer for Midnight Madness, Peter Kuplowsky said in a statement:

This year’s selections challenge the traditional parameters of genre and shock cinema, but — most excitingly — half of the lineup’s wicked provocations are courtesy of filmmakers making their feature-film debut. I’m delighted to welcome midnight movie institutions like Takashi Miike and Richard Stanley back to the section, and even more ecstatic to have the privilege to introduce so many transgressive, innovative, and galvanizing new voices. The tide is high, and be it a Mi’gmaq reserve, a Hassidic neighborhood, or a Ugandan village, more communities are getting opportunities to share their myths and monsters. I know this year’s lineup will exhilarate Midnight audiences come September.

Check out the new still and the poster below and then make sure to mark your calendars as Toronto International Film Festival begins on September 5.
