First photo from Beautiful Creatures is yuck; flick gets new release date

Are we gonna have to ban BEAUTIFUL CREATURES the same way we’ve banned TWILIGHT around these parts? Because if this picture is any indication, the flick is about as scary as a Danielle Steel novel.

Entertainment Weekly has your first look at CREATURES, which is currently in production under the direction of Richard LaGravenese. Based on the novel of the same name, flick is certainly mining comparable territory as TWILIGHT, and might cause us to unleash our lunch in a similar manner.

For people familiar with the book, you’re looking at Ethan Wate (Alden Ehrenreich) and Lena Duchannes (Alice Englert) in the above picture. I’m surprised he’s not sparkling. (Or is he?)

In related news, Warner Bros. just pushed the movie’s release date back a few weeks; it now opens on FEBRUARY 15, 2013.

The plot:
Lena Duchannes is unlike anyone the small Southern town of Gatlin has ever seen, and she’s struggling to conceal her power, and a curse that has haunted her family for generations. But even within the overgrown gardens, murky swamps and crumbling graveyards of the forgotten South, a secret cannot stay hidden forever.

Ethan Wate, who has been counting the months until he can escape from Gatlin, is haunted by dreams of a beautiful girl he has never met. When Lena moves into the town’s oldest and most infamous plantation, Ethan is inexplicably drawn to her and determined to uncover the connection between them.

Jeremy Irons and Emmy Rossum co-star in BEAUTIFUL CREATURES.
