Full cast announced for The Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

In an official statement released today, Lionsgate confirmed the basic details on CATCHING FIRE – the sequel to this year’s uber-hit THE HUNGER GAMES. Some of the stuff we already knew, like the fact that the follow-up will be directed by Francis Lawrence (CONSTANTINE, I AM LEGEND), but the studio also released the flick’s full cast.

Unsurprisingly, it looks like pretty much everyone from the first movie will be reprising their roles in the sequel:

“Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, and Liam Hemsworth will reprise their roles as Katniss, Peeta and Gale with Lenny Kravitz, Elizabeth Banks, Stanley Tucci, Donald Sutherland, Toby Jones, and Woody Harrelson also returning to their respective roles.”

Here’s a reminder of the synopsis:

Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has won the annual Hunger Games with fellow district tribute Peeta Mellark. But it was a victory won by defiance of the Capitol and their harsh rules. Katniss and Peeta should be happy. After all, they have just won for themselves and their families a life of safety and plenty. But there are rumors of rebellion among the subjects, and Katniss and Peeta, to their horror, are the faces of that rebellion. The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge.

Production on CATCHING FIRE will commence this Fall. The film is to be released on November 22, 2013.
