Horror @ the Box Office: Jan 13-15 – The Devil Inside Sinks while Mark Wahlberg and his Contraband head to number 1

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

Happy Monday folks, can you believe we are already in mid-January? Crazy huh? I hope you guys had good weekends, did you catch any films? Chances are it wasn’t THE DEVIL INSIDE, which was last week’s number 1.

Oh dear, THE DEVIL INSIDE took a nosedive at the Box Office, and it was a bad one. Usually we’ll see a film drop 40-60% the following week, but this dropped a staggering 78%! I guess bad word of mouth finally got to audiences and no one really wanted to put up with any of that nonsense.

Our number 1 for this week was the Mark Wahlberg starrer action/thriller CONTRABAND, which brought in a decent amount. This actually got some pretty solid reviews and good word of mouth, nice to see something decent get released in January and make some cash. The other big release was Disney’s 3D version of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, which didn’t make as much of a splash as their re-release of THE LION KING.

This Friday we will see the release of a film I am personally curious to check out, UNDERWORLD: AWAKENING! Other releases include HAYWIRE, EXTREMELY LOUD & INCREDIBLY CLOSE and RED TAILS. How will our genre release do? Well go and check it out next weekend and see some Kate Beckinsale in her sexy Seline costume!
