International rights to The Incident with Rupert Evans sold

THE INCIDENT quietly entered production back in January and was recently sold at Cannes, but it’s only now garnering press, thanks to an article on Variety. Gallic distribution and international sales arm of France’s M6 broadcast network group has sold the rights in key territories: Germany to Koch Media and the U.K. to Showbox.

The film, which was known as INCIDENT AT SANS ASYLUM while in pre-production, stars Rupert Evans (HELLBOY), Dave Legeno (HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE), Anna Skellern (below, THE DESCENT 2), Richard Brake (HALLOWEEN II) and Kenny Doughty and star.

The thriller is the feature film debut of French music video director Alexandre Courtes (U2, Jane’s Addiction, The White Stripes). First timer S. Craig Zahler wrote the script. France’s SND-M6 co-produces with LA-based producer Roy Lee (THE RING). Although the French had a hand in making the picture, its spoken language is English.

THE INCIDENT turns on three rock band members who work in a high-security asylum — until a freak storm blows the asylum’s security system, unleashing its criminal patients and trapping the rockers.

The movie is currently in post-production. Hopefully we’ll hear about the U.S. rights being picked up soon.
