Is a lawsuit really threatening the release of Machete Kills?

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

We don’t often get into the legalese behind the production of a motion picture, but what the hell, Turkey day slog and all…

Overnight Productions has filed suit claiming they want to cut ties with Robert Rodriguez’s MACHETE KILLS (RR’s Quickdraw Films specifically). If successful in legally rescinding the deal producers made with Rodriguez in April, the release of the film may cease to be. Bummer for all us pervs who want to leer at quite possibly the finest female cast ever assembled. F*ckin’ face palm!

If you want to know all the ins and outs of the legal drama, click HERE. But suffice it to say, if MACHETE KILLS does end up coming out, Rodriguez may actually delight in this piece of pub. After all, there’s no such thing as bad press in the picture business.

Still sans a U.S. release date – the sequel finds the titular ex-federale recruited by the U.S. government to stop a terrorist named Mendez the Madman, who happens to be Mexico’s leading cartel dealer.

Danny Trejo, Mel Gibson, Charlie Sheen, Edward James Olmos, Cuba Gooding Jr., Demian Bechir, Amber Heard, Jessica Alba, Zoe Saldana, Alexa Vega (below) Michelle Rodriguez, Lady Gaga and the Avellan twins (Elise and Electra) all star in the flick.
