UPDATE: Turns out IT scored $6 million more than even the highest expectations, finishing the weekend will a mind-blowing $123 million opening weekend! Go, Loser's Club!

It was just the other day that we let you guys know that STEPHEN KING'S IT beat DEADPOOL's massive Thursday night box-office record and today we have news that the film has scored the highest R-rated horror movie opening of all time.

After grabbing a Friday gross of $51 million, IT is now expected to finish out the weekend with a staggering $117 million

To put this into perspective, the previous record-holder for highest R-rated horror movie opening of all time was PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 3 with $52.5 million back in 2011. IT just more than doubled that.

While estimates for IT say that the film didn't break DEADPOOL'S $135 million opening weekend (making it the highest opening for an R-rated film) IT does now hold second place on that list.

Crazier still is that IT also now stands as the fifth highest grossing R-rated horror movie of all time – after just THREE DAYS of release.
