Joe Dante’s Matinee w/ John Goodman Blu-ray Special Features announced!

Oh, hell yeah!

I don't know if you guys have ever seen GREMLINS-director Joe Dante's flick MATINEE, but if you haven't, you need to get on that asap. But fair warning, MATINEE is more of a family comedy than a straight horror movie. That said, the flick boasts a love of horror movies (mutant movies from the 50's variety) that will have you smiling for days.

Add to that, John Goodman playing a low-rent William Castle and fun throwbacks to black and white horror cinema, and MATINEE is an underappreciated classic. I just watched it again last month!

In fact, the film could best be described as a remake of POPCORN for the whole family. And if that pitch doesn't sell you, I'm totally out of ideas because that would get me hook, line, and shocker.

Anyhow, the flick is heading our way on Blu-ray via Shout! Factory and today we here at AITH wanted to share with you guys the box art and the full list of special features.

You can find all of that below and then make sure to hit us up and let us know what you think of Joe Dante's MANTIEE in the comments below or on social media!

MATINEE synopsis:

John Goodman is at his uproarious best as the William Castle-inspired movie promoter Lawrence Woolsey, who brings his unique brand of flashy showmanship to the unsuspecting residents of Key West, Florida.

It's 1962, and fifteen-year-old fan Gene Loomis (Simone Fenton) can't wait for the arrival of Woolsey, who is in town to promote his latest offering of atomic power gone berserk, Mant! But the absurd vision of Woolsey's tale takes on a sudden urgency as the Cuban Missile Crises places the real threat of atomic horror just 90 miles off the coast. With the help of Woolsey's leading lady, Ruth (Cathy Moriarty), the master showman gives Key West a premiere they'll never forget. Anything can happen in the movies, and everything does in this hilarious tribute to a more innocent (and outrageous) time in American cinema.

MATINEE is directed by Joe Dante from a screenplay by Charles S. Haas and stars John Goodman, Cathy Moriarty, Omri Katz, Robert Picardo, and Kellie Martin.

MATINEE hits Collector's Edition Blu-ray January 9, 2018!
