King Collector DVDs

DavisDVD checks in today with news of two Stephen King novels-turned-films THE DEAD ZONE and PET SEMETARY being given the Collector’s Edition treatment by Paramount.

First up is THE DEAD ZONE, which stars Brooke Adams and Christopher Walken and directed by the great David Cronenberg. The disk includes for starters. Extras include the featurettes “Memories from ‘The Dead Zone,'” “The Look of ‘The Dead Zone,'” “Visions from ‘The Dead Zone'” and “The Politics of ‘The Dead Zone,'” all of which contain new interviews with Cronenberg, Brooke Adams, cinematographer Mark Irwin, editor Ronald Sanders and King biographer Douglas E. Winter. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look as though we’ll be getting another great commentary by Cronenberg, but you never know what sort of cool stuff he’ll talk about in the documentaries.

Finally, there’s PET SEMETARY, which will also include an anamorphic widescreen transfer and Dolby Digital 5.1 & 2.0 tracks, along with a new audio commentary with director Mary Lambert, “The Making of the Film,” “The Characters” and “Stephen King Territory” featurettes (which will include new interviews with Lambert, actors Dale Midkiff and Brad Greenquist, cinematographer Peter Stein and King biographer Douglas E. Winter). No cover art as of yet for PET SEMETARY, but THE DEAD ZONE does. Enjoy!
