Mandy director teases Cage vs Nazi Punks sequel

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Panos Cosmatos' MANDY starring Nicolas Cage, Andrea Riseborough, Linus Roache, and Cheddar Goblin has been killing it as a new cult classic these past few weeks. Everyone seems to be talking up the movie, and if you haven't seen it, I think it's officially time you add it to the top of your must-see list. Seriously. Do it now. And be quick about it as there is a (slight) chance that there may be a MANDY PART II heading our way in the future. And it sounds like it could be equally wild-ass times. Let's just hope it happens.

Director Panos Cosmatos on MANDY PART II:

People have asked me about it. I don’t know if I’m a sequels kind of person. I prefer each film to have its own unique identity.

He then added:

When I was writing the film, to amuse myself, I imagined a sequel that took place with Red Miller fighting Nazi punks in a bombed-out city. I don’t know if that would ever happen, but it’s a fun thought.

So just to reiterate, it seems like Cosmatos has precisely zero intentions of turning this wacky and wild (and fitting) sequel idea into an actual motion picture. But all the same, I'd be more than down for more Cheddar Goblins and chainsaw fights. How about you? Let us know below!

MANDY begins

In the Pacific Northwest in 1983, outsiders Red Miller and Mandy Bloom lead a loving and peaceful existence. When their pine-scented haven is savagely destroyed by a cult led by the sadistic Jeremiah Sand, Red is catapulted into a phantasmagoric journey filled with bloody vengeance and laced with deadly fire.

MANDY is directed by Panos Cosmatos (BEYOND THE BLACK RAINBOW) from a screenplay he co-wrote along with Aaron Stewart-Ahn. The film stars Nicolas Cage, Andrea Riseborough, Linus Roache, Ned Dennehy, Olwen Fouéré, Richard Brake, and Bill Duke. It premiered at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival and was theatrically released by RLJE Films. It is one of the last films scored by Jóhann Jóhannsson, who died in February 2018; the film is dedicated to him. Buy MANDY on Blu-ray RIGHT HERE.
