MTV prepares to turn Wes Craven’s Scream into a TV series

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

Can’t get enough of the SCREAM franchise? You’re in luck! Sick of Ghostface? Too bad. Why? Because it looks like MTV is moving into production on a weekly series based on Wes Craven’s slashers. TVLine broke the news that former MTV execs Tony DiSanto and Liz Gateley are overseeing the project under their DiGa production shingle. No word yet on whether Craven, Kevin Williamson or anyone else involved in the theatrical flicks will take part in the show. The search is now on for a writer to pen the pilot.

You don’t need to be a rocket scientist to figure out that the success of that TEEN WOLF series was probably a major factor in greenlighting this one. That, plus the hundreds of millions of dollars the SCREAM franchise raked in over the years.
