Last week we brought you an awesome proof-of-concept trailer for THE LEVIATHAN, which was hatched from the minds of director Ruairi Robinson (THE LAST DAYS ON MARS) and screenwriter Jim Uhls (FIGHT CLUB). Now it seems a feature length version of the project will be heading our way, and Deadline is reporting that two big names have signed on to help make it happen.

X-MEN writer and producer Simon Kinberg has come on board Irish filmmaker Ruairi Robinson’s white hot sci-fi project as producer. As if that wasn't cool enough, it's also being reported that CHAPPIE and DISTRICT 9 director Neill Blomkamp will also join the formidable creative team as exec producer.

Robinson’s 3-1/2 minute proof of concept video for THE LEVIATHAN has been an online sensation since its debut less than a week ago, ringing up millions of views since hitting the web.

Deadline points out that Kinberg’s first-look deal with Fox also gives Robinson potential studio backing should they decide to move forward. In the event of Fox passing, however, there will likely be no shortage of takers for the high concept story set in the early 22nd century that concerns...

Mankind has colonized many worlds in a time when travel faster than the speed of light has been made possible by the harvesting of exotic matter from the eggs of the largest species mankind has ever seen. Those who take part in the hunt for the matter are mostly involuntary labor.

But after the reaction of the proof-of-concept video and the addition of Kinberg and Blomkamp's talents, I seriously doubt Fox would pass on this project. I'm stoked to see what Robinson and his team can cook up with THE LEVIATHAN. More as we hear it!
