Steven Spielberg’s Jaws is coming to Blu-ray with no digital enhancements

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

One of my all-time favorite films, Steven Spielberg’s JAWS, is finally coming to Blu-ray. Although there is no street date yet, the release is now in the works. The best part? Spielberg assures fans that there will be no digital enhancements made to the movie – or any of his others:

“There’s going to be no more digital enhancements or digital additions to anything based on any film I direct. I’m not going to do any corrections digitally to even wires that show … At this point right now I think letting movies exist in the era, with all the flaws and all of the flourishes, is a wonderful way to mark time and mark history.”

It’s great to hear that Spielberg has learned his lesson from the E.T. debacle. If only he could pass that wisdom onto his pal George Lucas…

Often regarded as one of the greatest films of all time, the 1975 classic stars Roy Scheider, Robert Shaw, Richard Dreyfuss, Lorraine Gary and Murray Hamilton. Its written by Peter Benchley and Carl Gottlieb, as based on the novel by Benchley.
