The Dark Knight Rises gets official MPAA rating. Care to take a guess what it is?

Mere months separate us from Christopher Nolan’s third and much anticipated installment into the Batman franchise. Unsurprisingly, the flick just scored itself an official rating from the MPAA and it’s… well, not very surprising either.

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES has been rated PG-13 for “intense sequences of violence and action, some sensuality and language”. Well, there you go – not that anyone expected that Warner Bros. would suddenly go for an M-rated Batman flick. Still, it’s worth remembering that it’s the same rating they slapped onto THE DARK KNIGHT and it didn’t stop that one from having some truly intense moments (not to mention being a damn fine movie).

In case you haven’t left the Bat-cave for a while, here’s the official synopsis for the film:

Every hero has a journey. Every journey has an end. Christopher Nolan returns to complete the epic Gotham trilogy that launched with Batman Begins and reached the stratosphere with the billion-dollar blockbuster The Dark Knight.

Batman is now hunted by the law led by his friend Commissioner Gordon for taking the blame of Harvey Dent’s murders and protecting his reputation. He must quickly deal with the arrival of new villain Bane who is bent on the destruction and chaos of Gotham City, face old wounds and get a handle on the enigmatic Selina Kyle before his city is lost for good.

THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS swoops down into theaters and IMAX July 20th.
