Updated: New poster for Maleficent with Angelina Jolie is a little horny

Hey, I'm just calling it like I see it. This new poster for MALEFICENT, the new villain-centric live-action film based on the "Mistress of All Evil" from the animated classic SLEEPING BEAUTY, features Angelina Jolie and her "horny" headpiece, going for a simple, minimalist character shot that makes me think of a sexy, evil vampire, more so than a classic cartoon baddie. Still, it's another close-up look at Jolie as the titular character, who is a good fit for this part.

Here's the synopsis:

"Maleficent" explores the untold story of Disney’s most iconic villain from the classic “Sleeping Beauty" and the elements of her betrayal that ultimately turn her pure heart to stone. Driven by revenge and a fierce desire to protect the moors over which she presides, Maleficent cruelly places an irrevocable curse upon the human king’s newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Aurora is caught in the middle of the seething conflict between the forest kingdom she has grown to love and the human kingdom that holds her legacy. Maleficent realizes that Aurora may hold the key to peace in the land and is forced to take drastic actions that will change both worlds forever.

It's kind of uncanny how much Jolie seems perfect for this role and although the film looks like a decent bit of fun, it's doubtful that it will be little more than a showcase for her performance. And that's not really a bad thing, as we haven't seen the actress cut loose and have some fun in a long time, particularly with 2010's underrated SALT and 2008's hammy actioner WANTED.
