Lately I've been seeing comments from you guys that the films of 2009 sucked.

Whether 2009 produced a lot of shitty films or not, it felt like the year for trailer anticipation. No matter what your flavor, from NEW MOON to AVATAR to STAR TREK, there was a certain trailer that the fans were really drooling for.

This awesome video comes to us from Justin Niemeyer on behalf of Hollywood.com. He's managed to cram the best of the best trailers from 2009 in 1 minute and 39 seconds. However, it did remind me that a few weeks ago I finally saw the TRANSFORMERS balls and how unnecessary they really were. This year wasn't so bad, but maybe 2010 will out do it. Maybe.

Extra Tidbit: Yeah that's right, I saw TF2 and wasn't that impressed. Bumblebee, I still love you.

2007 seemed like a damn good year for movies (for me at least). 2009 felt like the year of let-downs. I enjoyed a lot of the movies...but they were not the best of movies by a longshot. TF2, Watchmen, 2012, Terminator Salvation, Wolverine...bleh.

2007 was awesome. Next big year would be 2011 I'm guessing? Hobbit...Captain America, Thor, Avengers (or is that 2012?)

eh ive seen better
take the music out and it probably sucks. Plus I saw Legion in there, that's out in 2010. they shouldve kept it strictly 2009.

One Of The Best Years
I think that 2009 was one of the best years for movies in the last 20, and by large and far, was the best year I have been old enough to remember since my birth. Reasons being:

Up. Adventureland. Coraline. Inglorius Basterds. Star Trek. Watchmen. Taken. 12. Sunshine Cleaning. I Love You Man. The Soloist. Terminator Salvation. Battle For Terra. Drag Me To Hell. The Hangover. Paper Heart....

Paper Heart. Away We Go. Moon. My Sister's Keeper. Surveillance. 500 Days Of Summer. Harry Potter 6. Orphan. Bandslam. Ponyo. Shorts. Planet 51. World's Greatest Dad. Jennifer's Body. The Invention Of Lying. Zombieland. Where The Wild Things Are. Pirate Radio. Fantastic Mr. Fox.

The above movies all earned an A or A- from many, and I am positive that's more than I have ever given out in any given year, and I am sure I am forgetting some, plus I haven't seen certain movies that could make this list such as Avatar, Up In The Year, The Men Who Sate At Goats.

But this year also gave us some of the most stupid, bombastic, and god-fucking-awful films ever!:

Transformers 2. Year One. The Haunted World Of El Superbeasto.

Did you guys actually see those movies? Just because "a lot of people disliked them..." doesn't mean it was bad.

Transformers 2 made a crap ton of money, but that doesn't mean it was good, it was in fact, quite awful. So, just because people didn't them, and they didn't make a ton of money, doesn't mean they were bad. If that is your basis for such a thing, then you're on the wrong...

This is for movie fans/buffs/nerds (apply whatever term you desire there), not for the easily suaded who make all their opinions about movies from what others thought. That's just sad and wrong.

Jennifer's Body and Planet 51 didn't get A or A- from anyone, Those two belong with the later list of awful films.

It wasn't a horrible year, but not a great year either. A lot of the most anticipated movies were disappointments (Transformers 2, Terminator Salvation, Wolverine), but we got some great surprises too (Star Trek, District 9, Where the Wild Things Are, etc). Heck, there's a lot coming out in the next few weeks so this year could redeem itself.

I actually thought 2009 was a great year for movies.

(500) Days of Summer, Inglorious Basterds, The Messenger, Moon, Watchmen...

Considering I just drew a complete blank and struggled to get Watchmen, I'm starting to feel like a fool.

But there were great ones! I promise you!

Well ok...
I mean yeah it does make it look a little bit better but with the right cutting and fast beat music you could make a montage of Paulie Shore movies look watchable. Although there are still quite a few in there that were exceptional: Hurt Locker, Fantastic Mr Fox, District 9, etc. I guess what I'm saying is....I don't know...
