Deadline has learned Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season two cast members Adrianne Palicki (Bobbi Morse aka Mockingbird) and Nick Blood (Lance Hunter) are finalizing deals to headline the planned spinoff series.

The spinoff will be set up by events from the current season of the series, and could potentially air concurrently with S.H.I.E.L.D., similar to what ABC did with Once Upon a Time and Once Upon a Time in Wonderland. That decision didn't work out too well for the network though, and it is more likely that the spinoff will air between the fall and spring runs of S.H.I.E.L.D.

S.H.I.E.L.D. executive producer Jeffrey Bell and co-executive producer Paul Zbyszewski developed the spinoff, and are also writing the script. Deadline has heard if it goes to series Zbyszewski will probably serve as the showrunner, however ABC isn't expected to officially give it the greenlight until they receive the script. 12 YEARS A SLAVE screenwriter John Ridley is also developing an ABC series based on a Marvel character, and some believe it could be the Kamala Khan version of Ms. Marvel.
