All are aboard the Zemeckis ‘Yellow Submarine’ remake

Back in September, we brought news of Disney’s impending remake of YELLOW SUBMARINE from writer/director Robert Zemeckis (BACK TO THE FUTURE, A CHRISTMAS CAROL). And now, the mo-capped production is set on who will play its creepified Fab Four!

Via THR’s Heat Vision blog, in negotiations to star are Cary Elwes (A CHRISTMAS CAROL, THE ADVENTURES OF TINTIN: THE SECRET OF THE UNICORN) as George Harrison, Peter “voice-o-Darth Maul” Serafinowicz (“Spaced”, SHAUN OF THE DEAD) as Paul McCartney, Dean Lennox Kelly (BBC’s “Robin Hood”) as John Lennon, and Adam Campbell (EPIC MOVIE, DATE MOVIE) as Ringo Starr.

Beatles tribute band, the appropriately named “Fab Four”, will be mo-capped for the performance sequences, though really it will only be their motions being captured since actual licensed Beatles music will be used… and I don’t get that. Are “The Fab Four” really that much more knowledgeable in how The Beatles literally moved during their performances? Is Cary Elwes – an actor – not capable of strumming a guitar like George Harrison? Seriously, I don’t get it.
