Avast Ye Mateys! Take a look a the new stills from Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

01.21.2011

We've got three new stills from PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES and they might look familiar. But why? Because you've seen the shots from the trailer. Unless I just imagined them, which is also possible.

Still, you get to admire Ian McShane and wish you could be as cool as Johnny Depp. Don't worry, I wish I was that cool too.

I'm pretty excited to see the new film and how it works minus Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley. I think it's pretty safe to say that everything will be fine.

Check out the stills below mateys!

Extra Tidbit: I still enjoyed AT WORLD'S END even though it gave me a weird vibe the whole time.

Blackbeard!

No matter what, Ian McShane as the baddest pirate ever will make this movie. Watch Deadwood, and then tell me he wasn't born for the role of a merciless pirate. Can't wait!

Oh..

Johnny Depp just looks bored in the trailer. I'll see it, I liked the first 3 well enough, but I can't shake the worry that this is going to be really underwhelming

I guess I'm one of the few hoping this thing will underperform somehow. I hated the last two CGI clusterflub offerings and really don't want to see PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ROLL TIDE and PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: SHAMROCK SHAKES complete another bad trilogy and clog up summer cinema in 2013 and 2015.

Gimme more!

As a fan of Monkey Island....another Pirates flick is always welcomed. Even with their flaws, the last three were fun romps...and minus the tertiary story between Will and Elizabeth it may even be better..

I too enjoyed the sequels

"3" after repeat viewings isn't great but it's a good B-movie for sure. I'm looking forward to the new one but Rob Marshall's track record as of late has been dismal. Still, the characters are well-established in this and he can't really do anything to affect them (least I hope.)

But I do wish they'd explain why Barbossa has a peg leg now. Get it blown off by a cannonball? Eaten by a shark? What gives, man?

As Leo Getz would say...

I love these people. Put them around boats and water and all of the sudden everything becomes fucking nautical. "Astern. Avast you landlubbers. Man the bilge pumps." Pump your fucking ass.

Completely agree with Trend

I'm actually really looking forward to getting back to the Pirates series. I too enjoyed At Worlds End, but obviously didn't hold the jock strap of Black Pearl. Getting rid of that really boring love story could pump a lot of freshness into this series and return it to what it once was.

I feel this movie will better without Bloom or Knightley, I never thought of them as being a strong point of the series in the first place

I agree. I saw Part 2 not too long ago, and thought that Depp really made the film work. (Bloom and Knightley were defintely the weak points).
