Brian Grazer replaces Brett Ratner as Oscar producer

First Brett Ratner is gone, then Eddie Murphy, and the Acadamy Awards was stuck without a production team or star a mere three months before the show is set to air. 

But they must be working furiously behind the scenes to get things on track. Deadline is reporting that Brian Grazer was offered and has accepted to produce the 84th Academy Awards. 

Grazer seems a much better choice for the event, as he’s an Oscar-winner himself (for A BEAUTIFUL MIND), and an actual respected filmmaker instead of, y’know, the guy who made the RUSH HOUR flicks and gushed about actresses he banged. 

Grazer of course has ties to the former cast and crew of the Oscars as he produced TOWER HEIST, as well as older Eddie Murphy flicks like THE NUTTY PROFESSOR and BOOMERANG. Apparently the Academy still wants Murphy to host, and has asked Grazer to use his relationship to convince the actor and former comedian to come back in. Grazer is reportedly calling up people he knows as well as the top agencies to see who’s available.
