Bryan Singer teases another epic Quicksilver sequence in X-Men: Apocalypse

06.10.2015

One of the highlights in Bryan Singer's X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST was Evan Peters as Quicksilver. With Marvel Studios' AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON and Singer's film both using the same character, many didn't expect the X-MEN film to have the better finished product. But, his prison break sequence in the film was one of the highlights of last year. Now, Singer may be doing it again.

In the Instagram post below, Singer shows a seemingly innocuous behind the scenes shot of several extras held by wires in front of green screens. The hashtag shows this is in fact a scene involving Quicksilver which probably means the wired actors will be suspended to give the effect of being frozen in time. How the scene fits into the film as a whole is unknown, but even if Singer replicates the scene I will be happy to see the effect used again.

X-MEN: APOCALYPSE is shaping up to be a pretty spectacular send-off for some established actors in the X-MEN film franchise along with the introduction of several more. Oscar Isaac is poised to make one hell of an Apocalypse while rumors are still running that Hugh Jackman and Channing Tatum will put in appearances as Wolverine and Gambit, respectively.

X-MEN: APOCALYPSE is slated to hit theaters on May 27, 2016.

One of the few times where this Quicksilver outdid what Avengers did big time. Why was he even in Ultron? Anyway if Singer makes another epic Quicksilver scene, that would be the price of admission alone.

Not The Better Version

I get that everyone and their damned grandmas loved that dumbass prison break sequence, but between the two version of the characters, only one is an actual character with depth, motivation, and more than a cameo/ plot device. Hint- it's not the X-Men version. Enjoy Peters as the character all you like, enjoy the one action moment he does all you like, but to call him a character is inaccurate. He pops up briefly, moves the plot along, and does literally nothing else and is not seen again.

That's not a character, that's a human macguffin, and I am sick of everyone treating him like some great, original, refreshing bit. He did so little in the plot, that the scene was rewritten for just to include that comic character to get him out before AOU. It was originally written as Juggernaut doing the prison break. That is not only petty, but just highlights how much of a non-entity he was also meant to be. Can we shut the fuck up about him now? Thank you!

you know what didn't make sense about that prison break scene?

quicksilver puts on his headphones and speeds along to "time in a bottle" by jim croce. nice touch. but wouldn't the music he's listening to also be really slow? he wouldn't even get past the first note. what's the point? unless he has some super sped up version of the song that plays at normal speed relative to his superspeed. but i don't know if that kind of technology existed back in 1973 when the movie takes place. they'd have had to condense a three minute song into less than a second. no

Maybe he has an aura around him that keeps things in line with his speed or something like that.

I think you might be overthinking the details of a movie where the world allows for a guy to run faster than the speed of sound. This isn't high-art, just enjoy it for what it is.

A) Good news, can't wait.
B) Where the heck is JoBlo's Jurassic World review? Sorry, didn't know where else to ask this.

Best scene in dofp. Too bad he leaves the movie afterward. I suppose he would've ended the movie too fast.

Wolverine - hey quicksilver there is this naked blue chick with a killer body who is going to kill this little person can you stop her.
Zip.....
Quicksilver - I got her.
Movie over. Roll credits.

Very cool. I wonder if they will also find a way to give Scarlet Witch a cameo as well.

Great news!

Quicksilver' s scene in DOFP was easily one of the most memorable scenes of last year! Hopefully Evan Peters will be given more time than just an extended cameo.

It's going to be tough for Singer to top it, but I'm just hoping that Quicksilver is actually in this film for more than five minutes.
