Captain America 2 sets critical events in motion for Avengers: Age of Ultron

02.05.2014

If you were planning on skipping CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER, you might want to rethink that. Turns out that critical moments will be set into motion that lead into THE AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON. This news coming straight from Bob Iger, Disney CEO and Chairman who revealed this information to investors and analysts.

Iger also stated that, "parts of the "Captain America" sequel’s plot will be reflected in ABC’s :"Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." This we learned back in November though at the time it was merely a rumor.

This, however, is not a new technique. Plenty of end credit scenes have weaved together the Marvel movie universe. If anything this confirms that there will be some juicy, maybe even juicier scenes that will be included in the Cap sequel.

I don’t know how you could think about skipping the second CAPTAIN AMERICA installment. It actually looks like it might be better than the first. Iger promises that the sequel "takes the Captain America story to incredible new levels." Okay, so he sort of has to say that, but I believe it.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER hits theaters on April 4, 2014.

I rolled my eyes when they announced Cap 1... I thought it was a silly, stupid idea and even though I'm a fan of Chris Evans I kept thinking back to Not Another Teen Movie... I doubted I could take him seriously... flash forward a few years and I will admit, Cap 1 was by far THE best Phase 1 film. Yes Iron Man started it all, but Cap 1 really showed us what could be done with Marvel's treasure trove of characters. I cannot wait for Cap 2.

I think people are reading a little too much into this in how it will lead into Age of Ultron. I don't think there is anything that happens in Cap 2 that results in the creation of Ultron. They did confirm that Baron von Strucker will be appearing as a villain in Avengers 2. So perhaps all Iger is saying is that the conflict with Hydra/AIM in Cap 2 won't be completely resolved. They'll probably learn that Hydra's reach is far bigger than any of them had imagined and they need the help of

They'll probably learn that Hydra's reach is far bigger than any of them had imagined and they need the help of the Avengers to bring them down. When we catch up with the crew in AoU they will already be engaged in tracking down Hydra. Tony Stark not having his power source anymore will be using Iron Man suits that he controls using advanced AI. As the search and battle with Hydra goes on, the AI sees/makes assumptions about the human race and becomes it's own sentient being, Ultron. And then the Avengers need to take down Ultron.

Just so impressed that Marvel thinks of the larger picture with these characters and how to intertwine every movie to the next one.

I'm going to guess that perhaps Life Model Decoys play some part in Ultron's creation. Stark mentioned them in the first Avengers.

Hmmm....How 'bout this little fanboy nugget?

Seeing as how Joss Whedon can & probably will deviate a little bit from the comic book source material...Maybe the creation of Ultron ties into S.H.I.E.L.D.'s mysterious ability to bring peope "back from the dead". (i.e. Coulson).

So whoever it is that Cap, Maria Hill & Black Widow are mourning under that sheet in one of the final screenshots of the new "Winter Soldier" trailer...(is it Falcon? Fury? the Winter Soldier himself?)...might we be seeing them return as well?

Marvel could nip

Marvel could nip two plotlines in one bud. Solving the mystery behind Coulson's resurrection (thereby making a few"Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D." fans a little happy) & possibly setting up a story-wedge leading to Tony Stark post-"IM3" & hence the creation of Ultron.

Ok...I'm just spit-balling here. But stranger things have happened.

?SPOILERS?
I bet the funeral is for Redford's character, but the 'Ultron created via the resurection process' theory could work... As long as it's not a resurected Red Skull...

It's interesting

You'd think Captain America would be the very last movie in Phase II leading to the Avengers but it's instead Guardians of the Galaxy which is said to be completely separate from anything. It shows Marvel is thinking long term with movies not necessarily having to connect yet still be relevant to the grand scheme of things.

I also saw it yesterday and I think the fix for the character works. I'm also liked the cameo it was a complete surprise and fun.

Makes perfect sense, I don't see how Guardians of the Galaxy would set up Age of Ultron. It seems some sort of inter SHIELD conflict is going to bring Ultron into the picture.

Make mine Marvel, out of all of the Avengers his charcter seems the most fitting hero to introduce other characters via their solo film.

Huge numbers and critical successes will eventually determine this but I get the feeling Marvel is going to stop individual solo film after each hero gets three. Maybe I just assume that because of the lack of talk of an Ironman 4... But they also stopped putting numbers in their titles so that kind of contradicts it... They are probably still in a state of

They are probably still in a state of observation and aww though, but... Maybe it's just Robert Downeys salery? It's not like they ever casted on the same level since the falling outs with Terrance Howard and Norton.

At the end of the day though, make mine marvel, it would take a decade + (maybe never) of just downhill quality for me to stop being excited for these movies.

You're probably right that they'll stop solo adventures after three films. They lock people into a three picture deal, but once those actors see how well the movies gross they want more money. So far Marvel hasn't been big on paying actors the salary they want and they're probably realizing this trend. As such their plan will be to resign them on another three picture deal at the same salary, but only show up in a limited capacity for Avengers films.

Wasn't it already revealed that the secret scene would feature Quicksilver and The Scarlet Witch? But I like the fact that Captain has the most influence on Avengers 2 like Thor did with Avengers 1.

Well, I think, what is being said is that the movie itself will have scenes that are somewhat important to Avengers 2. Probably a death or a major villain set up. Not just the ending scene with the Twins.
