Charlie Cox talks season 2 of Daredevil and The Defenders

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Comic book fans rejoiced when Daredevil was given the proper treatment via it's recent Netflix series, and breathed a sigh of relief in equal measure when a second season was greenlit. While some theorized we would have to wait until The Defenders before we got a chance to see the Man Without Fear again, it looks like there will be another season to explore before the Avengers-style mash-up. While the actor who portrays Daredevil isn't the be-all, end-all of information, Charlie Cox did talk about who he'd like to see in the sequel, as well as when we might expect The Defenders to show up.

Charlie Cox on season 2 of Daredevil:

I have to be careful because we just got commissioned so I have no idea who is going to turn up. Based on the show we’ve created, which is very grounded in reality, I’d like to see Punisher maybe show up, a little bit of Elektra maybe. I wouldn’t mind Black Widow making an appearance, and you can’t think about Daredevil for too long without thinking of Bullseye. I don’t know when or if or how that would happen, but it’d be cool if it did.

Regarding when we should expect more Daredevil and The Defenders:

We’ll begin shooting in the second half of the year. It’ll be the same timeline as the last show, so season two will come out about this time next year. Again, I’m imagining all this, but there’ll probably do Iron Fist or Luke Cage at the same time, followed by the other one [of the two] in the first half of 2016 and then maybe Defenders in the second half of 2016 or the beginning of 2017.

With Daredevil being such a great success, I hope this light's a fire under Marvel's ass to get Iron Fist and Luke Cage in the can, so to speak. Daredevil proved to be a hell of a Marvel fix and if these other shows can follow suit, then comic book fans don't have to wait for the big-budget theatrical releases just to get excited about seeing some great stories unfold. As far as season 2 of Daredevil goes, well, let's see how far they can push the awesome!

If you've yet to check it out, the first season of Daredevil is on Netflix now!
