Doug Jones, Beanie Feldstein, others join What We Do in the Shadows pilot

While Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi plot New Zealand-set spin-offs from their horror comedy mockumentary WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS, they're also working with FX on a pilot that will move the concept over to the United States. Clement is writing the pilot, which will be directed by Waititi. The pair will also be executive producing with Scott Rudin, Paul Simms, Garrett Basch, and Eli Bush.

If you missed WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS, here's what it was about: 

Vampire housemates (Jemaine Clement, Taika Waititi, Jonathan Brugh) try to cope with the complexities of modern life and show a newly turned hipster (Cori Gonzalez-Macuer) some of the perks of being undead.

When this pilot was announced, Kayvan Novak, Matt Berry, Natasia Demetriou, and Harvey Guillen were already attached to star. Now four more actors have joined the cast, and the one who's probably most familiar to horror fans is Doug Jones (pictured above in The Strain), the frequent creature performer who has been buried under prosthetics in such films as PAN'S LABYRINTH and THE SHAPE OF WATER. Also new to the cast are Beanie Feldstein, who co-stars in the Oscar nominated film LADY BIRD; Jake McDorman, who was in LADY BIRD as well and starred in the short-lived CBS series Limitless; and Mark Proksch, who has had roles on Better Call Saul and The Office.

Details on their roles have not been revealed, but they all have the potential to be recurring characters if FX decides to go ahead with the series. My guess is that Jones will be playing a vampire with Nosferatu looks.
