Exclusive 1:1 Interview: Southpaw Director Antoine Fuqua
There was one movie this summer that ranked high on my must see list. And that film was SOUTHPAW. And as the song says, Jake Gyllenhaal is phenomenal as a boxer struggling to regain his daughter. This is absolutely powerful. This is a the most triumphant movie of the summer, with amazing performances, and some of the most perfectly shot boxing sequences you are likely to see. You can credit Kurt Sutter with the script, and director Antoine Fuqua with bringing it to the big screen.
Recently, we had the chance to speak with Mr. Fuqua about his latest. He discussed working with Gyllenhaal and creating the mammoth beast of a boxer the actor becomes. He also chatted about the unique way he creates some pretty damn intense boxing matches. We also talked a little about his upcoming THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN remake. Fuqua is an intensly talented director, and as well, a great guy. Check out SOUTHPAW this weekend at a theatre near you!
