Farscape creator to pen TV adaptation of Warren Ellis comic Global Frequency

Deadline is reporting Fox has ordered a pilot for a new TV drama based on the Warren Ellis (Red, Transmetropolitan) sci-fi comic series Global Frequency. If this sounds a little familiar it's because back in 2005 Mark Burnett (Survivor) produced a pilot based on the comic for The WB, but it never aired (although it was leaked online) and wasn't picked up by the network.

This time around it'll be Jerry Bruckheimer producing the Global Frequency series, as well as Farscape and Defiance creator Rockne S. O’Bannon, Warren Ellis and Jonathan Littman. O'Bannon will also write the adaptation.

Comic synopsis from Amazon:

Global Frequency is a worldwide rescue organization that offers the last shred of hope when all other options have failed. Manned by 1001 operatives, the Frequency is made up of experts in fields as diverse as bio-weapon engineering and Le Parkour Running. Each agent-equipped with a special mobile vid-phone is specifically chosen by Miranda Zero, enigmatic leader of the Global Frequency, based on proximity, expertise, and, in some cases, sheer desperation!

While I am a big fan of Warren Ellis, I haven't had a chance to read Global Frequency yet, but everyone I've talked to who has says it's fantastic, and I'm glad Ellis is involved with the planned TV version of his comic. Are you interested in checking out Fox's Global Frequency?
