What's a young actor to do once he finishes with a colossally successful franchise like HARRY POTTER? How about move to another globally recognized character?

There were some minor mumblings a few years back that boywizard Daniel Radcliffe was being pursued to portray famed spy James Bond in his formative years, based on a series of YOUNG BOND books by Charlie Higson. According to a source we'll call 'Average Kadavra', there's interest in the wand-waving thespian once again for the part... and the Radcliffe camp is in fact considering it.

The YOUNG BOND books tell of the future superagent's college years in the 1930s to match Ian Fleming's original Bond, though it's assumed the movie stories would be refitted to fall more in line with the character's latest screen incarnation.

While it's understandable that Radcliffe, two POTTER pics away from graduation, might want to cement another almost-guaranteed franchise (those mansions don't buy themselves!), it's not like 007 needs the extra attention thanks to the recent reinvigoration from CASINO ROYALE. But perhaps the property owners want to piggyback on the success of Daniel Craig's buff espionage bruiser.

Extra Tidbit: Youth-oriented Bond versions have been attempted before: the book "003˝: The Adventures of James Bond Junior" and the 1990s cartoon JAMES BOND JR., who fought the forces of S.C.U.M. (Saboteurs and Criminals United in Mayhem).

Wouldn't be a horrible idea if EON was involved closely, not that I want it but it seems very much a rumor. Espcially Radcliffe's involvement, he seems ready to tackle more varied fare than franchise work.

NOT SUCH A BAD IDEA ON PAPER
Not sure about Radcliffe but having read the books I can state for the record that they are very entertaining. Higson pretty much nailed it and they could make for some cracking movies with the right cast. Radcliffe though? Not sure about that. I don't think he's incapable of giving a good performance. He's certainly improved with each Potter movie (he actually managed to emote in the new

No way
I honestly cannot stand Daniel Radcliffe. He's tolerable in the Harry Potter films (which are my favorite films). But to see him playing JAMES BOND? Indeed not. If this happens, I will protest at my local theater.

RED BORDER!!! RED BORDER!!!
BAD IDEA! BAD! Somebody kill it before it gets loose!!

(And why is there no option to delete your own post? For times when you want to delete it because, say for instance, it inexplicably comes up completely blank. Not like that would ever happen! I'm just sayin' "what if".)

Bad idea, obviously. That's not to say it isn't true. Radcliffe will probably grow into a pretty good actor as he gets older, and he seems to be getting a rep as somewhat fearless (at least when it comes to the stage). Rather see him as a young Bond than LeBeouf as a young Indy anyday.

I think this will happen when the Winter Olympics are hosted in Hell. I think Radcliffe's going to trying for adult roles after Potter's done

That is one of the dumbest ideas I've heard from Hollywood, in a year of lunacy at the movies. I hope this is a fucking joke.

I'm sorry, but this just totally reeks of "cheap cash in." Anyone remember that lame cartoon series James Bond, Jr.? This is in the same league as that. And I just don't see girly-boy Radcliffe growing up to be man's man Craig.

In A World Gone Mad...
Radcliffe will actually be playing Dr. Sherlock Bond, a super sleuth with snazzy gadgets traveling around Britain in Aston-Martin phone booth. It's already slated for a trilogy and a remake of itself.

Give me a break.

Yesterday, I read that he was going to be cast as the next regeneration of "Doctor Who".

Today, it's James Bond.

Tomorrow, they'll probably be saying he's the next Sherlock Holmes as well.

You see...my fear here is that by "updating" it, this will turn into Agent Cody Banks. But if there interested in going the cheesy route, I suggest a live action James Bond, Jr. movie complete with theme song and early 90s cliches.

This is going to be bad, very very very bad. How can anybody think this will make a good film, let alone a good franchise? Is this a really late April Fools joke or something?
