Get ready for two more Paranormal Activity movies coming in 2014

08.08.2013

I know that the PARANORMAL ACTIVITY series makes money so obviously there's an audience for it. But when is enough, enough? Why come out with this films one right after another? How do they retain what makes them scary? This is just one person's insight. I'm sure someone has a debate for why it's okay to release the same type of found footage film so often.

Which brings me to the subject at hand....

Next year we will be treated to not one, but two PARANORMAL ACTIVITY films. We knew about both of them, however the dates for release were not in place. The first which is the Latino centered flick now titled PARANORMAL ACTIVITY: THE MARKED ONES will hit a theater near you on January 3, 2014. Then PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 5 will make its way before Halloween on October 24, 2014.

I was sort of done with these films after the second installment came out. It was laughable, and did nothing to move the series forward. Not to mention that any horror film that uses babies is usually using it as a lame gimmick. See ROSEMARY'S BABY and PET SEMATARY for how this should be done.

Do you want more PARANORMAL ACTIVITY or are you done with the series?

PA4 was painfully redundant. Katie gets her hands on Hunter and then... gives him up for adoption, all so that we have to endure 90 minutes of Katie trying to get her hands on Hunter all over again. Will PA5 be about Katie trying to get her hands on Hunter a third time after losing him at the mall?

There'll be so many of these, the activity will end up being just next to normal.

Awwww...man!

I loved the first PA...it had a different premise, and it was not filled with gore...the suspense kept me on the edge of my seat...the second PA was ok...but kind of a repeat of the first PA....the third and fourth PA"s, sucked ass! They should have ended the series after the second one, and left people wondering: "what happened to Hunter & Katie"?

The problem with the sequels, after the second one, is that they're predictable. You know the formula exactly by now so it's impossible to get scared. The first one was all about suspense and the eerie nature. You never knew what was going to happen since the escalation of events was rather slow and atypical for horrors back then. The second one relied on the same, so by part 3 you knew that for the first hour and 15r minutes nothing is going to happen to the characters. No one is going to get

No one is going to get hurt for certain so the tension is now nonexistent, the movie becomes boring and thus the climax is ineffective.

Agree for the most part, but I will say that oscillating fan sequence in PA3 was a bit unnerving.

Fine with me. I love the Paranormal Activitiy films even though Part Four of the franchise was terrible. Seeing the first one in theaters was one of my most fun experiences watching a film.

I couldn't agree more. Seeing the first one on Halloween with a packed cinema of people who wanted to be frightened was such a great experience!
