Guillermo del Toro talks Pacific Rim and Hellboy 3

In another round of “What’s Going on with Guillermo del Toro”, the director spoke with Shock Till You Drop about his current project, PACIFIC RIM and another one that we will probably never see, HELLBOY 3.

Del Toro told the site that the monsters in PACIFIC RIM were “huge”. Then said this, “This is my most un-modest film, this has everything. The scale is enormous and I’m just a big kid having fun.”

After the press tour for DON’T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK, del Toro goes back to Toronto for pre-production for RIM.

Last week HELLBOY creator Mike Mignola made fans sad by saying this, “Last I heard he said he would not make it. Guillermo — who I love — in every interview there’s a new story on what his next movie is and he honestly believes he’s going to do all these things. But last I heard, he said ‘I’m never gonna get back to Hellboy. I’m not surprised because he won’t live long enough to do a tenth of the movies he’s told me he’s going to make. I can’t imagine him (Del Toro) making a Hellboy 3. He’s very enthusiastic and says he’s going to do all these things….ummm….he’s cute [laughed].”

The director weighed in on the subject saying that he would like to do it, but his schedule is a little hectic. Del Toro joked, “By the time I get to it and by the time we got Ron [Perlman] back, he’ll be a HellMAN and in a wheelchair.”

Don’t worry he’s still into doing FRANKENSTEIN and Universal still wants to get it off the ground. Del Toro says this on his interpretation, “My take is so unique, it will set it apart.”
