Guy Ritchie reunites with Jared Harris for The Man from U.N.C.L.E.

Jared Harris has made a nice little niche for himself playing characters of dubious nature on series such as FRINGE and MAD MEN as well as the big screen in SHERLOCK HOLMES: GAME OF SHADOWS. On that film, Harris worked with director Guy Ritchie and formed a bond that has brought them back together for the upcoming THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. movie.

The big screen version of the 1960s television series will star Henry Cavill and Armie Hammer and starts filming September 9th in England from a screenplay by Ritchie and Lionel Wigram. The movie also stars Hugh Grant and Alicia Vikander. The story follows special agents Napoleon Solo (Henry Cavill) and Illya Kuryakin (Armie Hammer), who work for the mysterious United Network Command for Law and Enforcement (U.N.C.L.E.).

No word on whether Harris will play the villain as he did in SHERLOCK HOLMES but I would be okay if he did. It also remains to be seen if the film will take place in the 1960s or be updated to a contemporary setting. I think Guy Ritchie's trademark visual style will work for a movie like this and I am thankful every day that Tom Cruise dropped out of the lead. Not an issue with Cruise, but I think too many people would compare THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. to MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE if he stayed on board.

THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. has no release date yet, but expect to see it sometime in 2014.
