Jesse Eisenberg is a popular guy these days.

The former Mark Zuckerberg just got cast in an indie dramedy called FREE SAMPLES alongside Jess Weixler (TEETH).

SAMPLES centers on, "a law school drop-out (Weixler) who fills in as a server as a friend's food truck, where she doles out free samples of ice cream. The job tests her patience, and while she figures out what to do with her life, she finds herself being courted by a young man (Eisenberg) whom she barely remembers from the night before." Eisenberg's love interest character is described as a supporting role.

Jason Ritter, who shared screen time with Eisenberg in "The Education of Charlie Banks," will co-star along with Tippi Hedren, Hallie Pfeiffer, Keir O'Donnell, Jocelyn Donahue and Matt Walsh.

Jay Gammill (PROPEL) is directing the screenplay by unknown writer Jim Beggarly. There is no release date yet for the project, but production has already started in Los Angeles.

I really don't know why people are so hesitant to give Social Network acting noms. I suppose it's because up until now, they are a bunch of young, unproven actors. But as far as I'm concerned, there's no way someone could tell me there are 5 better performances by leading actors than Jesse Eisenberg's turn, or five better performances than Garfield's. I think both of them should (and will) be nominated. I know the writing and directing is what most people really enjoyed about film, but without

extra tidbit

the social network was a fantastic film, but i don't see any acting nominations coming from it. the twins were well played by that dude hammer, as well as jesse in the lead and andrew garfield as the friend. but still, i don't think any of them will be nominated. also justin timberlake and the whole trying to be nominated, i don't see happening at all. he wasn't as good as the others and had too small a role.
