Leo in Twilight Zone

07.25.2008
Leonardo DiCaprio wants to make one of his favorite TV shows into one of your favorite movies. No, not THE MIGHTY ORBOTS. Or COP ROCK.

Warner Bros. and Leo's Appian Way production company are planning a TWILIGHT ZONE film. There isn't much of a plan beyond that, however -- the studios are reportedly soliciting scripts and pitches based on anything from Rod Serling's infinite bucket of twist endings.

WB and Leo want a single TWILIGHT ZONE tale rather than an anthology like the 1983 movie ("Wanna see something REALLY scary?"), which featured segments from George Miller, Steven Spielberg, John Landis and Joe Dante. Leo's company is certainly proving its geek cred -- they're also developing the live-action AKIRA and a movie about the creator of Atari.
Extra Tidbit: A feature version of the TWILIGHT ZONE episode "Death Ship" is already in the works.

I'd love a TZ film about now,but it NEEDS to be an anthology!!!Seriously Leo,get together some great horror directors together (Wes Craven,Clive Barker,Adam Green, and Rob Zombie would be very interesting choices.)

I see good opportunities out of a move like this but leo is better served being an actor than someone with creative decision. The better option is to make try working for a multi director system but leo definately should not be the one to call the shots.

This was my idea for years, to bring back the series as a movie, I wanted to do another antho, though. And I'm not a good filmmaker.

I'd much rather that Mighty Orbots movie.

In the new Hollywood Creative Directory it says Leo is developing a NINJA SCROLL movie. How about some news on that!

Bolshevik post

Leo DiCaprio creeps the hell out of my parents. The above picture is why.
That actor is the exact reincarnation of Lenin. Not the "all you need is love" Lennon, but the Vladimir Ilyich Ulianov (Lenin)
If they ever make a movie based on Lenin's life, they have to do it now.
PS: Am I out of my element ??

I think this could be interesting, as long as they remember what made the original series so memorable. I've got the first two seasons on DVD and they really kick some major ass, the writing and directing is astounding.
Remember folks, Rod Serling was a co-writer of the original "Planet of the Apes" so it is possible to stretch out a "Twilight Zone" story + twist into a feature length plot.

Why not just make an interesting sci-fi/drama, what does The Twilight Zone have to do with it? People will expect it to be an anthology, and not give it the credit it deserves if it ends up being good.

CBS has an ad campaign going right now to reignite interest in the classic episodes. I wonder if this is in relation to this movie announcement...

Yeah, if they approach it the right way it will be excellent, but as weird as it sounds there's really an art to pulling that sh*t off.

COOL

If done right I think that this could be good. I think that Leo is all about the details and will probably do the original show justice!

I love the twilight zone so hopefully this turns out right. It needs to be in black and white though. The earlier twilight zone movie and the new series didn't feel like the old show simply because it was in color. Black and white adds a creepiness to it that I feel is required to capture the feel of the original show.

again? really?

'The Twilight Zone', IMHO, doesn't really work as a film. A film may be Twilight Zone-esque ('The Sixth Sense'), but the Zone itself should really be an anthology series.

Now, the original series is, of course, a classic. But the '80s series was wildly hit-and-miss. And the less said about that most recent revival the better.

Why can't they just find a real good showrunner (not a suit), and start a new Zone series? It's been a long time since we've had a good anthology series

And they could adapt stories by Clive Barker, HP Lovecraft, Algernon Blackwood, Stephen King, MR James, Edgar Allan Poe...
